8 Exciting Tourist Attractions in the North of Iran, Less Familiar with Them

North side of Iran is “Paradise of Iran”.
A beautiful land with spectacular forests and beautiful beaches of the Caspian Sea, where every corner of it is enough for a whole living. However, Iranians usually visit certain destinations in the provinces of this region, and foreign tourists also regard Iran as more of its historical monuments than natural attractions. That is why many of the beautiful and breathtaking places of north of Iran are far from the view of the tourists; certain points that are not described in the words, and this is why many believe that Iran has brought all the beauty of the world. For this reason, we decided to introduce some places in north of Iran that you are not familiar with them and the media haven’t cover them enough. These places tell you that paradise is nearby.

In the highlands of the Lar plain, somewhere in the foothills of Damavand, there is a spring lying beside the plains of an anemone with a lot of beauty and charm. The Dyvasyab spring is located in Lar National Park (Lar Plain). To reach it you have to go to the Haraz road, then towards the Polour village and finally follow the path of Lar dam. This spring has a diameter of 10 meters and height of 2 meters. This spring’s water is full of sulfuric bicarbonate, which is why its water is white and its mineral content made it a spring with medicinal properties. Lar plain, beautiful anemones, animal species, cool and clean air, and the landscape of Damavand make this region a tranquil and spectacular area.

The Filband village, at height of 2300 meters above sea level, is the highest village in the eastern part of Mazandaran, located in the city of Babol. To reach this village, you should leave 140 km from Tehran on the road of Haraz and enter the road of this village, which leads you to paradise of Filband. Not only is the village itself, but the path to it is also bountiful and breathtaking; it is so beautiful that you will not believe your eyes. However, the most important beauty of this village is the infinite area of the clouds that lies beneath your feet and in the cool and cold air of this village you step in a place that looks like childlike dreams. The village is located on the heights, which is why it has cold nights and it can be traveled from May to September. Rent a beautiful cottage in this village and spend a few days in a dream.

When talking about dreams, extreme beauty and pleasure, we should mention Alimistan forest in Amol city. The forest, named after an herb called "Alima", is famous as ‘the green gold of Iran’. This forest is from Tehran at km 140 and from Amol in km 20 of the Haraz road and in a village with the same name. In fact, the Alimastan forest is a way to reach the place where the Caspian Sea and the Mount Damavand are shining. Clean weather, the landscape of Damavand Peak on the whole path, beautiful plains, misty forests, abundant springs, exceptional horses, towering trees and other beauties enchant you in this forest. This forest also has another wonder. Near the peak, you will see two large holes that they are footprints of two meteorites, but the locals believe that these two holes are footprints of Rustam’s knees, and kneeling when he wanted to drink from sea water and these two holes were created.

The natural lake of Shurmast is like legendary stories. The only natural lake in Savad Kuh encompasses an area of 15,000 square meters with a length of 5 meters. It is situated 5.5 km from the city of Pol-e Sefid, on the heights overlooking the city, near the village of Shurmast. The beautiful landscape with the wooded area of old and tall alder trees make it worth a visit. Currently, it is a suitable hub for tourists, nature wanderers, and fishing enthusiasts. With improvement in access roads, and construction of a recreational resort including boats, pedal boats, waterskiing and accommodation services as well as rest rooms in the near futures, it will turn into a fascinating tourist attraction.

Among the quiet mountains of Alborz, somewhere in the south of city of Sari, near the Orost village, there are colorful springs located at 1841 meters above sea level that are called the steppe springs of Badab Surt. In regional language, Badab means gassed water and Surt means intensity. These steppe springs, which are unique in the world, are made up of two main springs, which have completely different colors, smells, tastes and capacities. The first spring contains very salty water that gathers in a small natural pool; its water is considered to have medicinal properties, especially as a cure for rheumatism and some types of skin diseases and skin conditions. The second spring has a sour taste and is predominately orange mainly due to the large iron oxide sediments at its outlet. Beautiful spaces near the springs covered with wild brunette, beautiful and magical nights, magnificent scenery and ... duplicate the beauties of these springs.

A peak coming from mythology, called Dorfak, located at a height of 2,700 meters above sea level, is known as the roof of Gilan province. This peak is located between the cities of Rudbar and Siahkal and can be reached from the Qazvin-Rasht highway. On the foothills, the vast plains are waiting for you and they host so many tall, old and solid trees, open-air view of the white clouds are in front of your eyes and a luminous light from the palm of trees invite you to a magnificent party. The Dorfak Mountain is home to a volcano, but it remains harmless and inactive. It even serves as a suitable summer place for farmers who come from villages and forests to care for their animals. Wooden houses are built on the slope of the volcano for the seasonal stay of the locals.

Subatan Country Yard brings together all the beauties of the world; a region 22 km from the city of Lysar from Talesh in Gilan province. Around this country yard is full of spectacular nature which is located in the east of the Talesh forests, in the west of Ardebil country yards, and in the north of the Lysar River. Cheerful and cool springs, clean and airy weather, grasslands and massive forests make this area one of the best places to spend the hot summer. The beautiful landscapes of Subatan and the picturesque sceneries on the way to the place are the main tourist attractions for people who venture into this region. Batman Bolaq Spring, Ganjkhaneh Cave, Salsal Spring, Varzan Waterfall and horse grazing field are also among the must-see places of the region.

As the last place, let's get away from the provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran and travel to Semnan province and the city of Garmsar. The city has a region with 27 salt mines, some of which have a shape like tunnel and for this reason they are attractive places for visit. One of the most interesting mines is the ancient Kuhdasht salt mine and due to the extraction of salt, a tunnel or cave is formed with a length of 1.5 kilometers. Crossing this amazing tunnel will make some interesting and different moments for you.
